A Plea To EvilNinjaPhil's Wife

Here at the doyouinverts we treat all our fans with as much respect and love as we can (all four of you), so imagine our shock when yesterday on Twitter doyouinverts mega-fan EvilNinjaPhil happened to mention in passing "Your music is ace, despite what the wife says".

After further enquiry it appears the EvilNinjaPhil had been willing to just let this slide - pointing out that his wife loves Westlife and Pink - and not to take this in any way personally.

Well, here at the doyouinverts our mission statement is to broaden our fanbase in the same way the Wii has broadened the gaming demographic AS WELL as to take everything personally.

A quick 20 minute visit to the studio, and EvilNinjaPhil THIS is what we came up with, and we hope it helps. Even if she hates the music, then hopefully pointing out all my good points can help swing things in your favour. If she won't listen, perhaps you could print the lyrics out below and sellotape them to the fridge?

Long suffering fans of the doyouinverts will know that we made our first bid for Internet fame by appearing in the letters section of One Life Left, with a hastily produced song called Gold Membership. The original track was packed full of rude words and it took some canny editing from Ste to make it literally broadcastable. Thankfully, the bleeped sections formed part of an amusing game of "guess the swears" that lasted for at least 2 extra podcasts, and resulted in Ann being bombarded with rude e-mails.

The rest, as they say, is history.

As part of the Classssixxxxxx Traxxxxx feature, here on the doyouinverts blog, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the song, tidy it up a little, remove the swears (well, the bad swears) and repost it in a 2009 version. Warning: still contains one mild swear.

Lyrics have also been added to the doyouinverts lyrics webpage - HERE. You'll probably need them, as this song was originally written before I began making sure every second syllable I sung started with a barked consonant....

So, a new song as promised.

In this musical offering the doyouinverts examine the topic of game importing - the thrill of getting a new game through the post from playasia, and the inevitable moment 3 months later when you decide to sell it on to fund further purchases.

I was originally going to do the entire song with just a Koto, but bottled it at the last minute, so here's a jaunty number with saxophones instead.

What's coming up and stuff....

So, 2009 dawns, and the doyouinverts are fighting global financial meltdown by heading back to the studio and recording some jaunty new material. The first track should be out next week, with another following closely behind. What better way to forget the miserable state of the planet than with three minutes of tortuous rhymes about videogames? Exactly.

Also, coming soon is an exciting new page that will allow you to download all the lyrics from the doyouinverts songs to date. This will finally allow you to sing along to your favourite doyouinverts songs and incorporate them into any upcoming karaoke evenings you have planned. We also have a couple more Classixxxx Traxxxx from the early days of One Life Left that will be posted shortly.

Thanks so far for all the support in November and December which saw a large wodge of downloads, and a hefty dollop of hits on the website. Tell your friends etc. Like Obama, I'd like to stress that change can only come about if we work together and challenge the notions of traditional music downloads - such as them being well produced and having singing that doesn't sound like a Blackbird being pushed through a mangle.

Incidentally, if when visiting the site you like/tolerate the music and would like to contribute - I'm always happy to take potential topics/people you would like to be the subject of a doyouinverts musical event.

I'd also be happy if anyone with any sort of artistic talent would like to do a better logo for the band.
